Coco Chanel During WWII

In 1940 Coco Chanel moves into the Ritz Hotel in Paris, which was occupied by Nazis.

She meets Hans Gunther von Dincklage, German officer and Nazi spy and they become lovers.

German officers were plotting to meet with Churchill and reach peace on terms favorable to them.

Since she was familiar with Churchill, Chanel offered to be part of the operation which was named ‘Modelhut.’

Chanel failed to lure Churchill, and her name was now on record as a collaborator.

When Paris was finally liberated, thousands of female collaborators were shaved, stripped, and publicly humiliated.

Chanel was found guilty, but released without any charges. Regardless, her reputation was severely damaged.
